There are birthdays being celebrated in Lexington!

Lexington County Museum’s Friends President Dan Koon generated much enthusiasm at the planning meeting last week. He said the museum will be celebrating its 50th anniversary Feb. 22, 6-10 pm, at the Lexington Municipal Complex. You don’t want to miss it.

There will be a delightful buffet dinner with steamboat roast beef, pork tenderloin and all your favorite sides, plus New York-style cheesecake with topping for a fabulous dessert.

Following a brief program on museum history, there will be dancing to Frank Macaulay’s Great Society Band. Proceeds will go to refurbishing the museum’s original structure, The Fox House. Tickets are $60 per person at the museum or visit www.lexingtoncountymuseum.org .

Walter P. Rawl Farm celebrated its 95th anniversary, as well as the anniversary of Mr. Walter and Miss Ernestine on Jan. 25.

The story goes that shortly after they were married, they started setting cabbage in the field, thus starting a business that still thrives today.

The company is part of an exhibit at Ed-Venture Museum that shows how our crops are grown and then processed to grocery stores. Publix has an exhibit of the placement of produce in store departments. Small shopping carts are available for children’s shopping experience.

At the Shepherd’s Center’s 1st lunch program of the winter session, Mrs. Queenie Torigian was Queen of the Day! She celebrated her 102nd birthday with a tiara, balloons, birthday cake, and many best wishes. She is originally from Istanbul, speaks 3 languages and has been in the US since she was 9 years old. Her longevity is due to a constant “just laugh it off” attitude, she says.

Constance Flemming will celebrated her birthday with a concert at St. Paul’s Church Feb. 1 at 3 pm.

Congratulations to the Lexington County residents featured in Business Monthly’s 50 Most Influential and Hall of Fame. Lou Kennedy is on the cover. Also listed are Ted Pitts, Ronald Rhamey, Tod Augsburger, Kenneth Bauknight, Mike Crapps, Mike Gula, Mayor Elise Partin, Thomas Stringfellow, Kim Wilkerson and Attorney General Alan Wilson.

The Lexington County Choral Society will present “Share a Song of Sisters” this Friday, Jan. 31, 7:30 pm, at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church. The concert will feature sisters Sharon Hudson Rattray and Allison Hudson Hilbise, and “sisters” Cathy Mc-Gill and Carolyn Sosbee, pianists.

Anne Bull reports a karaoke event Jan. 30, 5-8 pm, at Second Wave Books to support the Dickerson Children’s Center. There will be food and drink specials. It’s all at 529 S. Lake Dr., Lexington.

Lexington United Methodist Church is celebrating the Ray Hipp Chili, Chowder and Soup Jamboree Feb. 2. Starting at 10 am You can takeout by the quart for only $8. You can eat-in (all you can eat) from 11 am to 1 pm at $5 per adult, with children 6 and under just $2.

On Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 2, local churches will put out the soup pot to receive donations for the Souper Bowl of Caring to feed the hungry.

Second Wave Coffee is the place to watch the 49ers and Chiefs clash on the 17-foot screen. The Super Bowl party food will be quite a touchdown, with wings, pizza, nachos and more, says Anne Bull.
