AROUND CAYCE, SPRINGDALE & WEST COLUMBIA

West Columbia Mayor Bobby Horton and other elected officials welcomed Riverbank Elementary School to West Columbia Oct. 6 at a Dedication Ceremony.

Riverbank is the new school off of Sunset Boulevard, on Cougar Drive.

The dedication ceremony included several Lexington Two School Board members, including Chairwoman Linda Wooten-Alford. District office personnel were also on hand to christen the school.

Friday was the last concert of the 2018 Fall Rhythm on the River series. The concerts will resume in the spring. It was a perfect night under the stars and the moon was beautiful. The featured band was Ashes of Old Ways. Emma Kate McLain opened the concert, and sang a song with the headliner.

The Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce’s 2018 Rhythm on the River Fall Series is held at the Riverwalk Amphitheater in West Columbia.

The Edenwood Neighborhood Association Fall Meeting is Thursday in the Fellowship Hall at Broad Acres Baptist Church, 2350 Taylor Road, Cayce. The dinner from Maurice’s BBQ is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10.

More good news in Cayce. The Cayce Riverwalk Trail was reopend last week. It had been damaged by flooding during Tropical Storm Michael. The city of Cayce credited its awesome. hard-working staff for clearing the Riverwalk and the Timmerman Trail.

American Engineering Consultants Inc. submitted the Cayce Water Tank for the Tnemec Tank of the Year competition. Voting ended Friday. Cayce has been in the lead all week, but Canada was catching up. West Columbia also had three of its water tanks in the running.

The winner will be announced this week. We’ll let you know the result.
