Midlands Technical College wants its people to be vaccinated.
Until Dec. 1, students, faculty and staff can upload their proof of vaccination to receive rewards and be entered into drawings for prizes.
State health experts agree that getting vaccinated is one of the best available defenses against COVID-19.
It is a message MTC faculty, staff and students heard when a top South Carolina epidemiologist spoke at an MTC Student Life event recently.
“The majority of people infected have mild to moderate illness,” said Dr. Linda Bell of the state Department of Health and Environmental Control.
“Even people with asymptomatic infections can go on to have complications, even children.”
MTC President Ron Rhames said, “This vaccination initiative is part of [an] ongoing effort to create and maintain safe spaces during this pandemic.”
