Lexington road closures for weeks

A busy Lexington road will have lane closures for 2 weeks, officials announced Monday, July 8.

The Town of Lexington says there will be lane closures on North Lake Drive because Dominion Energy will be upgrading gas lines.

The work will start from the intersection of North Lake Drive and Sunset Blvd and end at the corner of Old Cherokee Road.

Chapin assistant principal arrested

An assistant principal at Chapin High has been charged in 2 car break-ins.

Richard West Hiller Jr., 44, is charged with two counts of larceny from the same car, according to Lexington County deputies.

“Detectives have determined Hiller unlawfully entered a vehicle parked at 300 Columbia Ave. in Chapin without the owner’s knowledge or consent,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.

Hiller entered the vehicle April 22 and May 20 and took items of value.
