Each year the Gilbert Community Club, which sponsors the Lexington County Peach Festival, invites students from our Gilbert schools to enter the “Peachy Arts Contest.” Students are asked to create art with a peach theme. The students can choose the media they wish to use, which includes photography, watercolor, acrylic, or mixed media. Before school closes for the summer, the artwork is judged and winners announced. The art is then displayed displayed in the lobby of Gilbert Primary School for the July 4 Peach Festival.

Meals on Wheels dads in our community will receive a surprise this week with their meals. For several weeks the Gilbert-Summit Senior Center crafters have been making pickup truck photo magnets for the dads for Father’s Day.

Director Donna Neel said the members will be going to First Baptist Church of Lexington for a Young at Heart luncheon and to Beulah United Methodist Church for the monthly lunch and fellowship. The center will celebrate fathers this Friday with entertainment. Former GSSC employee Bo Bogart will perform with Jeff Long singing songs.
