The Pelion Ruritan has received national recognition for its membership enrollment.

The club went from 10 members in 2019 to 26 members to date.

The club was recognized by Ruritan National for this achievement.

Pelion Ruritan members are a great group always ready to step in and work on our community projects. If you are interested in learning more about the club, we meet every fourth Thursday at the Lutheran Parish Building at 7 pm.

A memorial service Sept. 14 was held for Mr. Tom Peel, 94, at the walking trail where he walked most days. He was a Army veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam with the 101st Airborne. Many people told stories about how he affected their lives.

Town Council called a special meeting on Sept. 14 to hear from Jeff Shacker from the Municipal Association. He told the council how the American Rescue Plan dollars can be used and how to obtain a grant from the Hometown Economic Development funds.

Summer reading winners from the Pelion Library Branch are: 0-5 Kelly Collum; 6-11 Kourtney Davis; 12-18 Asyiah Lingley; and Adult category Amber Davis. Congratulations to these reading champs.
