The Cayce Police Department hosted its A Fiesta at Granby Gardens Park to spark "relationships between the community and law enforcement.” Acercamiento Hispano was on hand to provide cholesterol, glucose and HIV testing, while Lexington Medical Center offered COVID-19 vaccines and info. Several tents were set up, with Cayce Police mingling with attendees. Officers also cooked ribs and chicken quarters.
Jauna Saavaedra, a victims advocate with the Cayce Police Department, said the festival was part of a coordinated outreach effort to the local Hispanic community on the part of law enforcement agencies in the counties of Lexington and Richland.
The day also included activities for kids, live music and more.
