The Meeting Street Artisan Market, which has become a fixture of the weekends in West Columbia since it was started by the city in 2019, is expanding its hours headed into the fall.

Beginning Aug. 6, the market will go from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., starting a little later on Saturdays under the pavilion in the city’s Interactive Art Park at 425 Meeting St. The market will also open for nighttime shopping the second Thursday of the month beginning Aug. 11, with hours going from 4 to 8 p.m.

The event features original arts and crafts, fresh produce and prepared food vendors. Those selling during the last market in July included Brickhouse Gourmet Coffee & Tea Co., artist Sean McGuiness’ Neo-Monster Island, Q Borough Candle Bar and Cindy’s Turn Pen Maker & Wood Turner.

The market also announced the addition of face painting by Emerald Artistry on the first Saturday and second Thursday of the month, along with live art demonstrations throughout the year.

Artists, crafters, performers, food growers, bakers and makers interested in selling are encouraged to go to westcolumbiasc.gov/meeting-street-artisan-market or email wecomarket@westcolumbiasc.gov to learn more.

“The market manager will review your request and email you a Meeting Street Artisan Market Application for consideration,” the city writes in a news release. “If approved, the market manager will connect you with the West Columbia Business Licensing Department (licenses start at $10.00). All vendors must have a West Columbia Business License to participate.”
