The start of the high school football season is now just a week away.
Dutch Fork will be the first team in action Aug. 18 as it travels to Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., to face Hough. The following night, 11 of the 15 Chronicle Country teams will open play during Week Zero. Before then, a pair of Lexington County football scrimmage events are set for Aug. 12 to close out the preseason.
This year’s Lexington Sportsarama takes place at White Knoll High School:
- Airport vs. Pelion 6 p.m.
- Batesburg-Leesville vs. Lexington 7 p.m.
- River Bluff vs. Ridge View 8 p.m.
- Gilbert vs. White Knoll 9 p.m.
Tickets are $7 at the gate and are available now by visiting whiteknollathletics.com/event-tickets.
Over at Chapin High School, the annual Aun and McKay Classic takes place at Cecil Woolbright Field.
Like the Sportsarama, four 12-minute quarter scrimmages will take place:
- Mid-Carolina vs. Irmo 6:30 p.m.
- Spring Valley vs. Newberry 7:30 p.m.
- Gray Collegiate vs. Westwood 8:30 p.m.
- Chapin vs. Fairfield Central 9:30 p.m.
Tickets for the Aun and McKay Classic are $7 at the gate.
