Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 24

Did you know that prescription drug abuse is alarmingly high?

That the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses are due to these drugs?

That the Centers for Disease Control reported opioid overdose deaths have increased during the pandemic?

That studies show most abused prescription drugs come from family and friends?

Most came from home medicine cabinets.

To combat this, the US Drug Enforcement Agency’s 20th Prescription Drug Take Back Day will be 10 am - 2 pm Saturday, April 24.

Acting US Attorney Rhett DeHart urges everyone to remove opioids and other medicines from your home where they could be stolen or abused.

“Expired, unused, and unwanted medicines in home cabinets are highly susceptible to misuse,” DeHart said.

“Taking advantage of the safe, convenient, and anonymous means of disposing of prescription drugs can not only protect you but also your family and friends.”
