Melanie Thornton of Riverbank Elementary School drove the school’s Rolling Reading Room through neighborhoods last week. Thornton read books from the back of her golf cart. The trip also gave her the chance to catch up with students she saw, from a safe social distance, of course.

Nephron Pharmaceuticals has donated 12,480 vials of life-saving respiratory medications to Americares – an organization that works in countries around the world to improve health care of those in greatest need. Nephron is owned by Lexington County native Lou Kennedy, with its headquarters just south of Cayce.

Lou’s husband Bill, a pharmacist himself, has started a drug store on their campus for their employees and their families.
