Sandra Mary McNiff Freeman

Sandra Mary McNiff Freeman, 78, formerly of Lexington, passed away Oct. 25, 2022, at Four Seasons Retirement Center. She was born in Joliet, Illinois to the late Robert and Lillian McNiff on Nov. 18, 1943. She was the beloved bride to William Freeman from Feb. 20, 1963 until his time of passing in April of 2006.

Sandra had the most amazing sense of humor. It was always dark and dry, and she never lost her wit right up until the very end. Though she will be missed by so many, she greatly looked forward to seeing everyone she had loved and lost in Heaven.

She was a very knowledgeable, determined, feisty, brilliant, and hard-working person. She knew a great deal about medicine, and would have made a fantastic doctor, had she not grown up in an era where women didn’t attend college. She was also a lover of music (she’s probably already talked with Chris Cornell and Kurt Cobain), reading mysteries, and traveling to far away places. Sandra was an amazing advocate for charity, and devoted her life to serving those in need.

Though the last couple of years had been difficult, her faith remained strong. She rarely complained and if she did it was done with humor and grace.

Her family would like to give special thanks to all of those at Our Hospice that cared for her, and her neighbor and dear friend, Kitty King, for so much help, care and love.

Sandra is survived by her daughter, Julie (Kirk) Beckstein, and grandchildren, Thomas, Henry, Rory, Samuel, Savannah, Joshua and Isaac. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert, and Lillian McNiff; spouse, William Freeman; her sister, Sally Palmer; her dog Mac and cat Tubby.

In keeping with Sandra’s wishes, cremation has been chosen.

Donations in Sandra’s honor may be directed through the funeral home to Our Hospice or the Litter Box Kitty Rescue of Taylorsville.
