SC Basketball Coaches Association recognize teams, players

A quartet of Chronicle Country teams made the final SC Basketball Coaches Association Top 10 rankings.

The 3-time defending Class 2A champion Gray Collegiate finished the season as it started as the top-ranked team in its classification.

Both Irmo teams ranked 2nd and 8th, respectively, in Class 4A. Lower State finalist Dutch Fork and River Bluff finished 4th and 9th, respectively, in Class 5A.

For the 2nd straight year, the Gators’ Jenkins was named to the SC Basketball Coaches Association’s All-State team in Class 5A. Joining him were Irmo’s Dylan Williams in Class 4A, Brookland-Cayce’s Aubrey Richardson in Class 3A and Gray Collegiate’s Chase McDuffie, Tim Barnes and Brandon Gardner in Class 5A.

The girls’ All-State team saw a repeat selection in Lexington’s Alexis Sexton. She was joined in Class 5A by White Knoll’s Jasmine Jenkins. Irmo’s Maliyiah Mason and Airport’s Jayla Jamison were picked in Class 4A and Gilbert’s Paris Gartmon in Class 3A.
