South Carolina is suing President Joe Biden for violating the US Constitution.
His illegal executive orders will kill thousads of SC jobs through climate change regulations, the lawsuit charges.
SC Attorney General Alan Wilson said the state has joined a coalition of 12 states over expansion of federal regulations through an executive order called “Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis.”
The 12 states are South Carolina, Missouri, Arkansas, Arizona, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Utah.
“We’ve fought against federal overreach in both Democratic and Republican administrations,” Wilson said.
“These executive orders would take authority that the Constitution gives only to Congress.”
He said the executive orders could potentially impact nearly every aspect of the economy and every South Carolina family.
According to the National Association of Manufacturers, total manufacturing output in South Carolina in 2018 was almost $39 billion and accounted for almost 250,000 jobs.
According to the Department of Commerce, SC farming contributes more than $41 billion to the state’s economy each year and employs around 68,000 people.
The lawsuit argues that:
• The president will use this to justify an expansion of federal regulations to combat the costs of climate change.
• Biden lacks this authority.
• Biden violated the requirements of the Administrative Procedure Act because there was no notice or opportunity for public comment.
