Halloween is a popular time to showcase decorations, costumes and pumpkins, which also are on the short list. Weather has affected the crop.

It’s time for scary creatures, witches, spider webs, black cats, ghosts and goblins.

OUR LEXINGTON Chamber offers many learning opportunities like the Mind Your Business educational lunch sessions.

Last week the chamber’s reception room was filled with members anticipating the talk from state Rep. Chris Wooten.

A South Carolina native, Chris entered the US Marine Corps after high school. His reliability and trustworthiness led his selection as part of the elite Marine unit that protected Presidents Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush at the White House.

After leaving the service, Chris became a SC state trooper, where he was picked for the governor’s protection detail.

Chris had always stayed in top physical condition and helped others get in shape as a trainer. He founded BodyShop Athletic in Lexington to help his neighbors enjoy a healthy lifestyle. He also worked as a football coach at Lexington and River Bluff high schools. Chris lives in Lexington with his children, Woods, Carsan and Zuri.

In his talk, it was apparent that Chris has always been conscious of making others feel good about themselves. Even just a friendly”good morning” can set your fellow workers off on a good day.

Chris has been successful due to his care for others and wanting their good health.

THANKS TO Trudy Huffstetler for letting us know that Lexington United Methodist Church held its Holiday Market last Saturday with vendors and lots of food. It was a great opportunity to start holiday shopping.

I was amazed at the number of vendors and the work that had gone into its success. I did a little shopping and indulged the sweets at the bake sale.
