Lexington County had 7 wrestlers crowned as SC High School League Lower State champions this past Saturday.

Class 5A host school White Knoll saw 1 of its wrestlers, Jason Garay, win at 138 lbs. River Bluff’s William Rogers (182 lbs) and Mark Kistler (220 lbs) also claimed Class 5A Lower State titles.

In all, 15 wrestlers from White Knoll, Lexington, Chapin and Dutch Fork placed in the top 3 standings to qualify for the state finals set for March 6 at Dreher High School.

In Class 4A, Airport’s Robert Plantz was the lone Chronicle Country local qualifier in the classification at 120 lbs.

At Camden High School, Brookland-Cayce’s Jonah del Priore (170 lbs) and Deante Strader (220 lbs) won their respective Class 3A Lower State finals and qualified 3 wrestlers for the finals.

Gilbert High School set a school record with 9 qualifiers, including 145-pound champion Harley Boatwright.

In Class 2A, Pelion’s Osmar Rivera-Rosa (160 lbs) and Will Jeffcoat (285 lbs) were crowned Lower State champions.
