Thursday — Oct. 13

The Root Doctors (concert)

The Root Doctors, Columbia’s most reliably energetic party band, headlines the finale of the fall Lexington Live series at the Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W Main St.). The concert starts at 6:30 p.m., and like all entries in the series, it’s free to attend. Find out more at icehouseamphitheater.com.

Restaurant Week Midlands

It’s Restaurant Week in the Midlands, which features local eateries (many in Lexington County) showcasing themselves with specials and deals. The event continues through Oct. 16. Find out what places are taking part and what they are offering at restaurantweeksouthcarolina.com/city/midlands.

Friday — Oct. 14

Neon Browne Band (concert)

The West Columbia/Cayce area’s own free music series continues with weekly fall selections through the end of October at the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheater (121 Alexander Rd.). This week’s featured act is the Neon Browne Band, which promises “ to bring you the widest variety of music that you know and love.” The concert starts at 6 p.m. Find more info at facebook.com/rhythmontheriversc.

“FAME” (musical)

The Columbia Children’s Theatre presents a production of the perennial musical “FAME” at the Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College St. in Irmo) Oct. 14 (6:30 p.m.) and 15 (2 and 6:30 p.m.). Tickets cost between $12 and $15. Find out more at harbisontheatre.org.

Murders and Mysteries Lexington Walking Tour

The Lexington County Museum offers a walking tour of downtown that will feature stories about “murders, trials, and other crimes that occurred on Lexington’s Main Street in the 19th and early-20th centuries. Harvest Dinner

Enjoy a one-of-a-kind Harvest Dinner at The Farm (1127 Corley Mill Rd.). This second annual event features a family-style meal served with wines (and beers) chosen to complement the dishes. This will be a German-styled four-course meal prepared by Chef Scott Hall. The dinner (postponed by a couple weeks due to Hurricane Ian) begins at 6 p.m., and admission is $97. Chapin Fall Art Festival

Celebrate the fall season with art, artistic vendors, food and live music at the Chapin Fall Art Festival. The event goes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the large lawn area of Mount Horeb Church (130 Amicks Ferry Rd.). Find more info at facebook.com/chapinfallartfestival.

Fallfest

Irmo plays host to the first annual Fallfest this weekend, a music and arts festival aimed at drawing a crowd to the town. Musical acts include Jeff Lucero, Natalie & the Boys, SideKix, Another Rock Summer, and The 100 Grand Band. The event will also include arts vendors and food trucks. Americolafest

Tough Luck Records hosts a lineup of five musical acts (Jimmy Wooten, River Tramps, the Kyle Kelly Band, The Brothers Gillespie, Jack Marion & the Pearl Snap Prophets) to benefit PETSinc, a nonprofit no-kill rescue organization. The event is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring supplies such as blankets, toys, canned kitten food, canned dog food, litter, bleach, Windex, dish detergent, laundry detergent, paper towels, dry kitten food and dry dog food.

Chapin Fall Art Festival

PATx, Crazy Karl, H3RO (concert)

Soda City Bounce Pumpkin Patch

Soda City Bounce brings a Pumpkin Patch to Krafty Draft Brew Pub (269 Charter Oak Rd.) Oct. 15 and 22 (4-8 p.m.) and 23 (2-5 p.m.). Kids will be able to paint and decorate pumpkins, play in a bounce house and on an inflatable slide. Popcorn, cotton candy, games and options for cute pictures will be available. Holiday Market

Market at Lexington United Methodist Church (309 E Main St.) will include more than 30 vendors selling food, books, jewelry, pocketbooks wod crafts, paintings, Christmas ornaments and more. Sunday — Oct. 16

Sunday Jazz Brunch

Chayz Lounge (607 Meeting St. in West Columbia) hosts a brunch soundtracked by saxophonist David Glymph and featuring wine, mimosas and “delicious dishes.” Doors open at noon, and music goes from 1 to 3 p.m. The event is free to attend. Find more info at chayzlounge.com.

Wednesday — Oct. 19

Jon Spencer and the Hitmakers (concert)

Rocker Jon Spencer, veteran of acts such as Boss Hog, Heavy Trash and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, plays New Brookland Tavern (122 State St.) with his current band, the Hitmakers. The $15 concert starts at 7 p.m. Find more info at newbrooklandtavern.com.

Thursday — Oct. 20

Jazz on the River (concert)

Weekly outdoor jazz with a view of the Congaree River and the Gervais Street Bridge continues through Nov. 10 Thursdays at the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheater (121 Alexander Rd.). Concerts last from 6-9 p.m. For more info, go to facebook.com/jazzontheriversc.

Boo at the Zoo

The Riverbanks Zoo’s (500 Wildlife Pkwy.) annual halloween event returns Oct. 20-30 (6-9 p.m.). The event includes trick-or-treating throughout the zoo, a magic show, a haunted carousel, the Spooky Spots and Stripes Railroad, and the Eeky Freaky DJ. Find more info at riverbanks.org.

Randy Lucas Trio (concert)

The Randy Lucas Trio bluegrass band performs at Hazelwood Brewing Company (711 E Main St.) tonight. The concert goes from 7 to 9 p.m. and is free to attend. Find more info at facebook.com/hazelwoodbeer. 

Across the County Line

S.C. State Fair

Head over to the State Fairgrounds (1200 Rosewood Dr. in Columbia) for another edition of the State Fair. Get ready for rides, live music, food and drink, arts and crafts vendors and much more. Visit scstatefair.org for more information on the event, which will be in town through Oct. 23.

Newberry Oktoberfest

Downtown Newberry hosts Oktoberfest on Oct. 15. This free festival (postponed by a couple weeks) will feature live music, kids activities, fall food and drink and much more. The festival begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m. Visit newberryoktoberfest.com for more information. 

Famously Hot SC Pride

The state’s largest LGBT event is back with a nighttime parade and concert Oct. 14 (starting at 7:30 p.m.) and a festival Oct. 15 (starting at noon) headlined by Nastasha Bedingfield and featuring alumni of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Find out more about the festivities at scpride.org.
