We have all experienced stressful situations. Those moments where your palms start to sweat, heart starts racing, and your thoughts are chaotic. Do you deal well in those situations? How we handle stress matters. What if I told you uncontrolled stress can negatively affect your health? When we feel threatened our nervous system responds by releasing a flood of stress hormones called adrenaline and cortisol. They send your brain into emergency action. During this process our senses become sharper. But ongoing stress can lead to: anxiety, depression, personality disorders, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythms, heart attacks and stroke. If you feel stressed and need relief, you may try yoga or exercise with a simple walk or jog. Find your “happy place.” Find and eliminate “trigger points” – situations which lead to stress. Find supportive family or friends that will listen when you need to talk. Speak to your primary physician about a referral for extended treatment if you feel your stress is unmanageable. It is never too late to help your body become stress-free and get back to living a healthy, happy life.Visit https://www.webmd.com/balance/stress-management/stress-symptoms-effects_of-stress-on-the-body .
