Teacher takes a fall at Forts Pond

Forts Pond Elementary wishes to thank Mr. J. P. White for being a super hero last week. He is the husband of a kindergarten teacher and just happened to be in the school when a first grade teacher had a fall. He was able to attend to her immediately, using his military first aid skills. Thanks to all of the other staff members who came to her aid. She is at home resting. FPES is such a great family and you never know when a hero is going to appear!

Convent Baptist will have its annual Wild Game Dinner March 9 beginning at 2 pm Tickets are $5 and can be obtained from any member or call the church office at 894-3959. This event is always fun with lots of interesting wild things to eat.

Pelion Elementary 4th grade students will take a field study to Riverbanks Zoo March 1 to learn more about animals and their habitats. PES afterschool Run Hard programs begin March 5 for students who signed up.

Collaborative Planning Day is March 6. Students will be dismissed at 11:40 and lunch will be served.

March 15 is a regular school day at PES. They will have the “Math Madness Morning” and parents are invited to attend. The program begins at 7:45 in the cafeteria, starting with an update on upcoming state assessments. Parents will then visit classrooms to play math games with their children.

At Forts Pond Elementary , Zach Shealy’s class is 53rd nationally, first in state, district, and school. Congratulations to these youngsters.

The Pelion library will Cook the Books with Indian recipes March 5 at noon. This event is for ages 18 and up. Technology training is March 6 at 10:30 and registration is required. Preschool Storytime is March 6 at 11 am for ages 2-5 years.

Pelion SeniorS will participate in Red-bank Ramblin March 1 from 10 am until noon. March 5, the group will go to Hammrick’s for senior day.

Varsity baseball at Waccamaw Coastal Invitational plays Conway March 1 at 1 pm. Varsity Girls soccer versus Irmo is March 1 at 5 pm. JV/B team baseball plays Gilbert March 4 at 4:30 pm. JV/V softball plays Ridge Spring-Monetta March 4 at 5 pm. JV/V girls soccer plays at Midland Valley March 4 at 5:30 pm and March 6 they play at Westwood at 5:30 pm. Varsity baseball plays at Wagener-Salley March 6 at 6 pm. Varsity softball plays at Wagener-Salley on March 6 at 6 pm.
