Cookin’ with THE CHRONICLE
This was my Mama’s favorite cake. For her 75th birthday in Glenville, GA, (the largest producer of the vidalia onions). I made 4 cakes and had a surprise birthday party for her the day of the onion parade. All of the people who sat in their folding chairs on her lawn to watch the parade came inside to celebrate. I started making this cake when I was very young. I taught my two youngest grandchildren to make It.
