Traveling as a senior adult

Posted

Since becoming the Senior Adult Pastor of Lexington Baptist Church I have learned a lot about traveling with a group of senior adults.

1. For an overnight trip try not to schedule a departure time before the kennels open.

2. Put a bright ribbon or something that will let you identify your luggage from 30 feet

3. Arrive early if you want to get a seat close to the front of the bus.

(If you don’t care where you sit on the bus, arrive about 5 minutes after the departure time so you can make a grand entrance down the bus aisle to the back seats.)

3. Departure times prior to 8:30 AM will necessitate a biscuit stop.

(If leaving after 9 am, bring snacks, because there will not be a biscuit stop.)

4. Get to know who always brings snacks, make them your friend, and come early to get a seat next to them!

But seriously, we are so blessed to live in a country where we can freely travel, explore, learn, and experience the magnificence of America.

To experience foreign cultures and see the very places where historical events happened that changed the world will expand your view of life even more.

Do not let fears or worries about foreign travel stop you from exploring the world.

I have been to 6 foreign countries with great experiences everywhere.

But going to the Holy Land in Israel is an experience in a category all by itself.

To stand on the Mt. of Olives, pray in the Garden of Gethsemane, walk inside the empty tomb, and be in a boat on the Sea of Galilee makes one’s spiritual walk come alive.

Plus, there is a greater insight when praying onsight for the peace of Jerusalem and the entire Middle East.

I am putting together a group trip to Israel this coming December 26 through January 4, 2021.

Please send me an email if you would like more information.

Next Week: What I didn’t learn in school
