Hang the moon around your neck! A moon phase necklace captures the moon from any date and places it into a necklace full of meaning. Choose a special date like a birthday or anniversary to keep special occasions and dates close to you. This event is for grades 4-12 and will be held on August 22 at 6 pm.

Plans are getting underway for the Pelion Peanut Party, which will be November 1 and 2. If you would like to be involved in this event, contact Amy at scpelionpeanutparty@gmail.com.

Happy birthday to Angie Olawsky and Keith Poole.

If you would like your birthday or anniversary listed here, please email the information to kaycollings@earthlink.net.

We’ve been delighted to see a variety of birds at our feeder this year. The Bunting especially has been fun to watch. We have the Indigo Bunting and the Painted Bunting. The male Indigo Bunting is a beautiful, rich indigo-blue, often looking nearly black in the shade. The color is visible when the sunlight strikes the feathers. The male Painted Bunting is especially beautiful with a red breast, blue head, yellow-green wings and the female is a lemon-green color. These birds are a little larger than a finch. They like millet, nyjer, and sunflower chips.
