Lexington County reported 215 initial unemployment claims the week ending April 3. 

Richland County and Columbia had SC's highest at 479 claims.

Horry County had 449, Greenville County …

Unemployment claims rise

Lexington had lowest claims of top 6 counties

Lexington County reported 215 initial unemployment claims the week ending April 3. 
Richland County and Columbia had SC's highest at 479 claims.
Horry County had 449, Greenville County 438, Spartanburg County 339 and Charleston County 305.
Overall SC claims rose to 4,969.
This represented an increase of 1,864 from the 3,105 filed the previous week.

The Department of Employment and Workforce offered no explanation for the rising claims.
Nationally, claims rose to 744,000, up 16,000 from the previous week.
$70.7 million was paid out in a combination of state and federal unemployment.
That brought the total SC payout since March 15, 2020 to $5.78 billion.
