The home portion of the 2020 season ended Saturday with another loss for the University of South Carolina.

A punishing running game by 9th ranked Georgia sent the Gamecocks to a 45-16 defeat at Williams-Brice Stadium.

The Bulldogs (6-2) amassed 332 rushing yards, led by James Cook’s 104 yards and 2 touchdowns. Defensively, the Gamecocks were limited to 83 rushing yards as they dropped their 5th consecutive game.

It was a career night for quarterback Luke Doty and tight end Nick Muse. Doty was 18-22 for 190 yards and a touchdown to Muse, who caught 8 passes for 131 yards in the home finale.

Georgia jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the 1st quarter. It’s opening drive saw tight end Travis McKitty with 2 catches for 40 yards and 6 yards to put the Bulldogs on the board.

James Cook scored on a 5-yard run on the next possession and Zamir White closed out the 1st quarter scoring run with a 22-yard touchdown with 2:23 left.

South Carolina managed to put together a 8-play, 65-yard scoring drive to end the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter opened with Kevin Harris’ 1-yard run to put the Gamecocks on the board.

A 40-yard field goal by Parker White brought South Carolina to within 21-10.

Georgia answered back with its dominating run game. This time, James Cook raced untouched through the Gamecock defense for a 29-yard touchdown to put the Bulldogs up 28-10.

South Carolina looked to score before halftime, but White’s 53-yard attempt hooked right of the upright.

After forcing South Carolina to punt on its 1st possession of the 2nd half, Georgia’s Kearis Jackson returned the football 51 yards to the 13-yard line. It took 3 plays for the Bulldogs’ White to score from 3 yards for his 2nd touchdown of the game.

A 32-yard field goal by Jack Podlesny extended the lead to 38-10 with 4:26 left in the 3rd quarter.

An interception by Georgia’s Tyson Campbell set up another Georgia score to open the 4th quarter. Quarterback JT Daniels found freshman Arian Smith for a 31-yard touchdown reception.

The South Carolina offense put together its longest scoring drive of the season. Starting from its own 2, the Gamecocks drove 11 plays to set up Doty’s 7-yard touchdown pass to Muse.

The PAT was blocked and Georgia kept the football for the remaining minutes.

South Carolina closes out the regular season at Kentucky. No time or airing has been announced at this time.
