Upgrades coming to Springdale street

AROUND CAYCE, SPRINGDALE & WEST COLUMBIA

Springdale Mayor Michael Bishop says the SC Department of Transportation is working on construction of a sidewalk on Kitty Hawk Drive. He said the upgrades will “improve safety, especially for children who walk to school on the road.”

“Wilton Road is also in the process of being repaired,” said Bishop. “Construction and mobilization of equipment may affect traffic, so please be observant when driving for your safety as well as the safety of the individuals working.”

Are you a homeowner in Springdale in need of home repairs? “Homeworks of America is a nonprofit corporation based in Columbia that will assist low-income homeowners with home repair services while mentoring youth in the process,” said Bishop.

American Red Cross disaster volunteers assisted a family whose home on Casa Dell Road was damaged by a fire Jan. 23. The Lexington County Fire Service and the Gaston Fire Department responded to the blaze.

No injuries were reported, but there was an estimated $55,000 in damage.
