US 321 crash victim identified

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the man who died in  a collision.

The accident occurred about 1:45 pm Dec. 23 in the 3400 block of US 321 (Charleston Highway) south of West Columbia.

Foster H. Yarborough Jr., 73, of Columbia was driving northbound near the State Farmer's Market when an oncoming vehicle lost control, crossed the median and the 2 collided head-on.

Yarborough was wearing a seat belt when the collision occurred.

He was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple traumatic injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by the SC Highway Patrol. 

The identity of the other driver and any passengers was not reported.
