Virus shuts down Senate

Lexington County senators got this week off.

Senate President Harvey Peeler declared the Senate adjourned during the covid-19 pandemic.

Peeler said he would call the Senate back into session if action is needed for the state’s public health.

Committee chairs may call meetings critical to the state’s business, he said, but must be within CDC guidelines to protect the health of those who may attend.

Senate offices in the Gressette Building are closed.
