Fritzie Suerto Refamonte, 45, an educator at White Knoll High School, has been charged with third-degree assault and battery, according to an arrest warrant.

Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said that Refamonte is accused of taking the hands of a nonverbal student and using them to strike the student's face.

According to the press release, Refamonte told the student, “Hit yourself, not the teacher."

Koon talked to three witnesses during the investigation and deputies arrested Refamonte at her home on Wednesday morning.
