Whole lot of shakin’ going on

Jerry Lewis’ song describes the last 8 weeks well. There has been a “whole lot of shakin’ going on!”

This time in history has shaken our schedules, schools, jobs, churches, economy and completely put us in a stay at home state!

Virtual students’ lives did not change much, however a “whole lot of shaking” occurred when all public schools shut down.

School districts moved quickly to learning at home. Now that the world is moving back to life again, our new normal might be interesting. “To wear a mask, or not to wear a mask” might be a question for us today. Walmart and other stores have specific guidelines to keep everyone social distancing safe. Because of these “shakings” there are many people who need our thanks, respect and support. We all need to congratulate our high school seniors. They are not receiving the celebrations, honors and special treatment that are normally traditional.

We need to thank all teachers who are working from home and missing their students.

Thank all the grocery store cashiers, restaurant and health care workers, FedEx and UPS drivers and postal service workers who deliver our mail and the weekly Lexington County Chronicle.

We truly appreciate all of you.

Since the world seems to be opening back up, with essential and non-essential business opening up their doors, we still need to practice social distancing.

The Red Cross plans a blood drive at the Chapin American Legion Post Monday. May 11 from 11am-4 pm. For all going out on the lake, check out new boating social distancing tips at safeboatingcampaign.com.

Lets enjoy life’s new normalcy, just at a social distance. And send your news to me at Liesha.Huffstetler@gmail.com
