1 dead after pedestrian versus vehicle collision in Lexington County April 14

Mark Bartholomew Mack, 49, of Gaston, has been identified by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher as the man who died on April 14 after being hit by a vehicle.

The collision happened near Highway 321 and Wilbur Road in the Gaston area of Lexington County at around 1:10 a.m., according to a release from the coroner.

Mack was walking northbound in the southbound lanes when he was hit by a vehicle driving southbound.

Mack was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver remained on scene and was transported to a nearby hospital.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.
