The 12,000 Year History Park has resumed the tours for the Colonial era Fort Congaree and the February 16, 1865 Civil War Battle of Congaree Creek.

Ft. Congaree was built originally as a trading post for Indians to trade deer skins with the settlers for food, tools, guns and ammunition.

The Congaree Creek battle was one of the last battles fought in SC and was a last gasp effort to keep Gen. Sherman from destroying the rail head and factories in Columbia.

The tours are conducted on Saturday mornings at 10 am and start at the Cayce Tennis Complex.
