15 years for drug charges

A Lexington County man pled guilty to drug charges last week.

Michael Jason Harwell, 40, pled guilty in Lexington County General Sessions Court to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and possession of heroin, all 2nd offenses.

Circuit Court Judge Debra R. McCaslin sentenced Harwell to 25 years suspended to service of 15 years in prison followed by 5 years of probation. Under SC law, both possession with intent to distribute charges are classified as serious offenses.

Harwell has prior convictions for hit and run, receiving stolen goods, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a stolen vehicle, and financial transaction card theft.
