The City of Cayce will soon unveil a new exhibit.
It will honor the members of the 1964 Cayce Dixie Youth Little League World Series Championship team at the Cayce Historical Museum.
Beginning at 3 pm August 16, the surviving members of the 1964 Dixie Youth World Series Champions Team will gather for a celebration of the exhibit.
In 1964, Joe Pinner honored the team upon their return to Cayce as the World Champions on The Mr. Knozit Show. He will once again introduce the 1964 World Champions and will honor the members of the team and adored coaches that have passed away.
Many of the players and the players’ families will be in attendance.
The 1964 team included: Glen Cully, Delmar Faust, Stump Gaddy, Russel Dixon, Freddy Stone, Randy Stewart, Tommy Mack, Neal Cockrell, Jimmy Chavis, Tommy Grant, Harold Knotts, Jimmy Higgins, Earl Bass, John Coward, Terry Harper, Rusty Wright, Coach Fritz Steel and Coach James Knotts.
The team’s bat boys will also be recognized: Russell Gaddy, Johnny Knotts and Brian Knotts.
During the 1964 series, the team from Cayce had a final record of 22-3.
After the celebration, the team will be recognized at the Columbia Fireflies Game at Segra Park at 6 pm.
