Murray Kenneth Paxton of Lexington, 90, and Emery Thomas Woody of Augusta, Ga., 22, have been identified as the two killed in a Lexington County crash on Jan. 24.
The two-vehicle collision happened near the 63-mile marker on Interstate 20 westbound in the Columbia area of Lexington County, according to a release from Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.
The crash happened at about 10:30 a.m. when Paxton was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes, hitting the car Woody was driving westbound head-on.
“Mr. Paxton, who was wearing a seatbelt, and Mr. Woody, who was not wearing a seatbelt, were both pronounced dead at the scene,” the release from the coroner read.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
