BOYS CO-ATHLETES OF THE YEAR - WILL JEFFCOAT (PELION) & WILL TAYLOR (DUTCH FORK)

The US Army/West Point signee earned All-State honors as an offensive lineman for the Region 5-2A champion Panthers. It was the school’s 1st region title in 14 years. He also claimed a 2nd consecutive Class 2A individual wrestling title at 285 pounds. Jeffcoat is a finalist for the SC Football Hall of Fame’s 2021 Bridge Builder Excellence Award. The lone season with the Silver Foxes saw the 2-sport Clemson University signee and Major League Baseball prospect lead the football team to a state-record 5th consecutive Class 5A title. He threw for 2,237 yards and 21 yards and rushed for 448 yards and 11 TDs at quarterback. On the diamond, Taylor batted .429 with 34 runs, 30 RBI, 7 home runs with 22 walks and 19 stolen bases in leading Dutch Fork to the Region 5-5A title and Class 5A Lower State final. GIRLS ATHLETE OF THE YEAR - JAYLA JAMISON (AIRPORT)

The 2-time All-Chronicle Country girls’ athlete of the year graduated a year early as the most decorated student-athlete in Airport High School history. During the University of South Carolina signee’s illustrious track and field career, Jayla won 12 state titles in 4 events (100, 200 and 400 meters and long jump), was a 2-time SC Coaches Association of Women’s Sports Track Athlete of the Year and was named the SC Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year as a senior. She was also a 3-year starter on the varsity girls basketball team who led the Lady Eagles to 3 playoff appearances and finished her career with 890 points, 350 rebounds and 300 steals.
