Chief Terrence Greene of the Lexington PD in partnership with Serve & Connect hosted the 2nd annual Bountiful Harvest last Thursday at the Town of Lexington Municipal Complex.

The event is a day of giving designed for everyone.

Local businesses and community organizations were on hand to distribute turkeys, food baskets and connect participants with social service resources.

Among the participants were the Bi-Lo Gives Foundation, who provided turkeys, Harvest Hope, Panera Bread, Mission Lexington, Midlands Fatherhood Foundation, The Courage Center, LaVie Pregnancy Care Center, Habitat for Humanity, Dickerson’s Children’s Advocacy Center, Lexington School District 1 Food Service and Nutrition, Lexington County Mental Health and Lexington 1 Adult Education.

In addition to providing food, the event allows for some positive interactions between citizens and Law Enforcement officers.

Chief Green has said that anytime Law Enforcement and citizens have these kinds of interactions, it helps build trust.

Cpl. Cameron Mortenson reported 300 turkeys and food bags and 140 food boxes were distributed.

Attendees enjoyed a sit-down meal from Catch Seafood throughout the day.

People from 14 Lexington County Zip Codes attended the event.
