Our colleague Mark Bel-lune took a copy of the Chronicle to Lapu Lapu, Mactan Island, Cebu, Philippines, 8,953 air miles and 12 time zones from Lexington County. It took 49 hours through five airports to get there. He’s at the Lapu Lapu Monument honoring the chief of the Mactans who, with 1,500 warriors, killed Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, 50 Spaniards and 50 allied Cebuan warriors. Mark will report on his adventures when he returns. Send your vacation photos from exotic places to rose.lexchron@gmail.com We’ll make you famous.
