Emergency money due this month to speed reopenings

$65 million in grants are due in January for almost 3,000 small businesses and non-profits.

State officials said the money some from 2 programs lawmakers set up – the Minority and Small Business and Non-profit relief grant programs – in a $1.9 billion federal grant

The long delay since September resulted from the large number of applications.

Small businesses and minority businesses can get up to $25,000 each.

Non'profits were capped at $50,000 each.

2,284 companies will split the $40 million for small businesses.

And another 686 non-profits will split $25 million.

Eligible small businesses include bars, gyms, nail salons, pizza shops and even web developers.

Nonprofits include churches, charities, art museums, youth groups and domestic abuse centers.z
