7 Lexington County places to scratch your pickleball itch during National Pickleball Month

April is National Pickleball Month, and as one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, Lexington County has seen a boom in picklemania. 

With many new and previously existing facilities, there are a ton of places to play for free or by reservation in the area. These places offer a wide variety of environments and amenities, giving people of all ages and skill levels an option.

Below are seven local facilities you can go play pickleball at today. 

Lexington Tennis Complex

425 Oak Dr., Lexington

The Lexington Tennis Complex is one of the most popular spots to play pickleball in the county. 

There are 19 lighted hard courts for tennis and eight pickleball dedicated courts with permanent lines and netting. Courts are complete with a small central gazebo, iced water coolers and trash receptacles. 

Lessons and camps are also available for young and newer players. 

There is a one-time fee to play, ball machines are available to rent and there are lights to keep the game going in the dark. 

24 Hour Pickleball Club

4590 Augusta Rd., Lexington

24 Hour Pickleball Club is one of the newer spots to play in Lexington County. 

The facility's eight indoor and four outdoor courts are reserved for members only. Joining the club requires a monthly subscription. 

Membership options range from $49 to $125, with increasing benefits at each tier. There is also a $49 youth membership option. 

Members also get access to trainers, lessons and leagues to play in. 

Cayce Pickleball Complex 

1500 Dunbar Rd., Cayce

Cayce’s pickleball complex is another popular site to play. 

With 16 dedicated pickleball courts, the Cayce Pickleball Complex is one of the nicer facilities in the area. While designed as a place for the community to get together and play the sport, the Cayce Pickleball Complex has also attracted a few local, regional and even national tournaments. 

Youth summer camps are available, and registration is currently open. 

There is a small fee for the public to play and reserve courts.

Gibson Road Sports Complex

104 Duffie Dr., Lexington

The Gibson Road Sports Complex offers players a free spot to play pickleball in Lexington County.

With four tennis courts available and no reservation process, it is first-come, first-served. There are lights to keep the courts lit at night. 

Barr Road Sports Complex

213 Barr Rd, Lexington

Heading indoors, the Barr Road Sports Complex has six wooden courts and portable pickleball nets that can be reserved. 

The complex also offers seasonal lessons and open runs every week. Players will have to pay a $2 fee to play.   

Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center

1120 Fort Congaree Trail, Cayce

Just a few minutes away from the Cayce Pickleball Complex is the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center. 

The facility has 30 courts, including seven specifically dedicated for pickleball. Lessons are available for both youth and adult pickleball players. 

Courts can be reserved and are open to non-members for a fee.

Melvin Park

370 A Eptings Camp Rd., Chapin

Chapin’s Melvin Park has nine dedicated pickleball courts available to members and their guests. 

These courts can be reserved in two-hour intervals for a small fee. Court passes are also available, giving people a subscription-based option.
