A builder’s side of the story

Posted

I have spent my entire adult life trying to make our community a better place.

Our Lexington County Council has given countless hours doing the same.

There must be a better way forward.

In 40 years I invested everything I have into Lexington County and lost it twice.

Since recovering from the 2008 recession, we continue the tradition we have focused on since the beginning, building community We want to continue that.

We build relationships, people, neighborhoods, homes, tax base, and more. We create spaces for churches and other non profits, parks and jobs. Most builders and developers give more to charities inside the communities than any other industry.

I want to continue the conversation with all the council members.

We are not on opposite sides. Indeed we are on the same side on the core issues.

Those on council and those in building and development who want real long-term change to make our community better need to come together, take a deep breath, and start this process over.

I am available for conversation with anyone willing to discuss solutions that face the community we all love.

Wade McGuinn, West Columbia
