A dog-gone reunion

Posted

US Marine Carrie Walker made 2 friends in Georgia, the country, not the state.

A pair of puppies, Frank and Lagatha, would go on runs with Carrie.

Carrie’s children fell in love with the dogs over video calls.

The animal welfare organization SPCA International organized their rescue and transportation to reunite Carrie at her home in Chapin.

Military members can’t bring pets they adopt overseas back with them.

Regulations prohibit animals on official transportation.

These heroes have to find other means to transport their battle buddy pups.

Animal transportation is expensive and involves complex logistics that force service members to leave their beloved animals behind.

The pandemic has only magnified these difficulties.

Through Operation Baghdad Pups: Worldwide, SPCA International rescues the animals overseas and reunites them safely in America.

SPCA International has so far reunited more than 1,000 animals with their service members since 2013.

Frank and Lagatha joined 5 puppies who were reunited with fellow Marines in the US this month.

Frank loves people and playing and Lagatha is protective of all the US service members.
