Did you know that marketing emails often contain trackers?

These trackers tell companies when you opened their email, where you were.

A new email service promises to help keep your email more private.

DuckDuckGo known for its web browser and Firefox extension now aims to tackle email privacy concerns.

Its Email Protection works 2 ways:

• You get a new email address so you do not have to give your real one. The new email address will forward emails received to your real, personal inbox. In that way, Email Protection is similar to Firefox Relay.

Where the services differ is Email Protection removes trackers. This protects you from your behavior being tracked.

Email Protection is undergoing beta testing. You can sign up to receive your own @ duck.com email address now. You may have to wait to join the service depending on how many slots they have opened up.

Download the DuckDuckGo browser app onto your iPhone or Android. Open ‘Settings’ and open ‘Email Protection’.

Tap ‘join the private waitlist’ and wait to be notified when they ready for you!.

If you want to use the DuckDuckGo search engine, visit www.duckduckgo.com.

Try it out the next time you need to do a search online.
