Governor Henry McMaster has nominated the state’s first secretary of veterans’ affairs.
Maj. Gen. (Ret.) William F. Grimsley has been nominated to fill the position Gov. Mc-Master signed into law in May 2019.
Grimsley is a highly decorated combat veteran with more than 30 years of service in the US Army.
The governor’s appointment is subject to Senate approval.
