About 20% of Lexington County voters cast ballots in the 2025 General Election. Here’s the data

Official Election Day data from Lexington County Voter Registration and Elections shows that out of the 35,688 registered voters in the county, 7,006 of them cast ballots for the Nov. 4, 2025, election, making for a 19.63% voter turnout. 6,009 voted on Election Day, 920 voted early and 59 voted by absentee mail.

Here are more details on individual races throughout Lexington County.

Batesburg-Leesville

David W. Bouknight led the mayoral race, receiving 42% of votes cast, with Steven “Steve” Cain having earned 29% of votes cast.
Greg Moseley earned 18% of the votes cast and Larry McConnaughhay earned 10%.

1,142 ballots were cast in the mayoral race.

Bouknight did not receive more than 50% of the vote, so he and Cain will advance to a mayoral runoff on Nov. 18.

Cain was also a candidate in the District Three race and received the most votes (69.72%). Tyler List earned 30.28% of the vote. 115 ballots were cast in this race.

According to the state election commission, depending on the winner of the mayoral run-off, a special election could happen for the District Three seat, because if a candidate currently holds an expiring term and wins that seat as well as an additional seat that the candidate ran for, the candidate would choose which seat they want, and there would be a runoff for the other seat.

In the District One race, Bo Turner won with 74% of the votes cast. His opponent, Troy Teague, earned 18% of the votes cast.

132 ballots were cast in the District One race.

In the District Five race, Cathe Knox won with 52% of the vote. Opponent Sheba Williams earned 46% of the votes cast.

99 ballots were cast in the District Five race.

In the District Seven race, Joe Montgomery won with 71% of the vote. Natalie Gary earned 26%.

168 Lexington County ballots were cast in the District Seven race.

The town has areas in Lexington County and Saluda County.

Pelion

Frank Shumpert won the mayoral race with 60.51% of the vote. John Elkin earned 39.49%

157 Lexington County ballots were cast in the Pelion mayoral race.

Jan Green (41.18%) and Starr H. Corley (36.76%) won the two council seats.

314 Lexington County ballots were cast in the Pelion Town Council race.

Pine Ridge 

Daniel Davis was re-elected as mayor, running unopposed and receiving 100% of the vote. 160 Lexington County ballots were cast in this race.

Michael H. Kyzer and Scott N. Simms won the two council seats. Kyzer earned 50%, and Simms earned 48.91%.

320 Lexington County ballots were cast in the Pine Ridge Town Council race.

Springdale 

Juston Ricard retained his seat as mayor, receiving 74.25% of the vote. Chad Owens earned 25.19%

537 Lexington County ballots were cast in this race.
Jacob R. Wilkerson (32.23%), Tate Wilbourne (23.95%) and J. Kevin Reeley (27.64%) secured the three council seats. Ben Vaughan earned 15.29%.

1,611 Lexington County ballots were cast in the Springdale Town Council race.

Chapin 

Bill Mitchell Jr. won the mayoral seat with 67.87% of the vote.
Ron Colley earned 7.51%, while 24.32% of voters wrote in candidates. Information on write-in candidates was not available at the time of this publication.

334 Lexington County ballots were cast in this race.

Ainslee Bost (35.95%) and Warren C. Burritt Jr. (30.88%) won the two open council seats. Gregg White earned 19.44% and Jerry Taylor earned 13.40%.

668 Lexington County ballots were cast in the Chapin Town Council race.

Gilbert

John Reeder III won re-election as mayor with 75% of the vote. 53 ballots were cast in this race. 13 were write-ins.

There were 70 write-ins for the two town council seats. The two write-in candidates were Keith Powell and Patrick Carson. A run-off election is set for them on Nov. 18.

Swansea 

Doris W. Simmons won with 55.09% of the vote. Jerome D. Williams earned 44.91%.

173 Lexington County ballots were cast in this race.

In the District One Swansea Town Council race, Angie Alley led with 51.16% and Linda Gail Butler earned 48.84%. 45 Lexington County ballots were cast in this race.

A special election is set for Jan. 17, 2026.

In the District Two Swansea Town Council race, Melissa Williams won with 97.22% of the vote. 39 Lexington County ballots were cast in this race.

West Columbia

Mike Green ran unopposed in the District One race and earned 93.41% of the vote. 93 Lexington County ballots were cast in this race.

George M. Crowe ran unopposed and earned 94.39% of the vote in the District Three race. 196 Lexington County ballots were cast in this race.

Phyllis Cookie Holmes won the District Five race with 62.07%. Kiaun Jaquez Moore earned 31.03%, and Brad Robinson earned 6.03%.

There were 116 Lexington County ballots cast in this race.

Sarah Mattern ran unopposed and won the District Seven race with 95.80% of the vote. There were 120 Lexington County ballots cast in this race.

Cayce

Tiffany Aull won the District One race with 61.82% of the vote. Ron Wright earned 37.74%. 461 Lexington County ballots were cast in this race.

Alice Rose won the District Three race with 54.28% of the vote. Hunter Sox earned 45.43%. 340 Lexington County ballots were cast in this race.

Summit

Deborah S. Nye (45.57%) and Jennifer Seawright (31.91%) won the two council seats. Felicia N. Wigfall earned 21.52%. 86 Lexington County ballots were cast in this election.

Lexington

Incumbents Todd Carnes, Gavin Smith and Ron Williams retained their seats.

Williams won 23.40% of the vote, Smith 23.08% and Carnes 22.64%.

Challengers Greg Brewer earned 17.25%, and Doug Leonard earned 12.51% of the votes.

8,310 Lexington County ballots were cast in this race.

Irmo

Incumbents Barb Waldman and Gabriel Penfield retained their seats on the town council. Waldman earned 36.75% of the vote, and Penfield earned 26.89%.

George Frazier earned 17.63%, Brandon Mundy earned 6.63%, Benjamin F. Battiste earned 5.81% and Adam Raynor earned 5.70%.

1,826 ballots were cast in this race. The town sits in Richland and Lexington counties.

Lexington County Council had no seats on the ballot this year. The towns of Gaston and South Congaree also had no seats set to expire this year.
