Busbee Creative Arts Academy has been honored for its art program.

The academy received a Distinguished Arts Program grant from the SC Department of Education.

This is the 3rd consecutive year the arts magnet school has received the grant.

The $18,000 grant will be used to enhance the Lexington 2 school’s dance, music, theatre and digital arts programs.

Among the planned purchases are an instrument stand, ukulele program and equipment, weaving loom, gel press plates, portable ballet barre and more.

Busbee’s grants in previous years have purchased a classroom set of ukuleles, tabletop easels, replacement instruments including violas, violins and cellos, various pieces of music literature, costuming and shoes, and more.

“We are excited to receive this grant again and look forward to providing many more opportunities in the arts for our students,” said Principal Stephanie Hucks.
