Year two of the Chris Napier era at Airport is off to a great start.
The Eagles won their season opener at home, beating Pelion 34-7 for their first win in over 700 days.
"I'm just so proud of these guys right now," Napier said. "They've been through so much adversity over the last four years, and they just kept grinding and working and believing in what we're doing, and I think the results proved themselves. "
Quarterback Rico Crawford threw for four touchdown passes in the win.
Napier also said he was impressed by his receivers and offensive line.
"When they were in there, they hardly gave up any pressure," he said. "I got to give credit to those guys."
The Eagles will try to improve to (2-0) this Friday when the team hosts South Aiken.
New Pelion head coach Matthew Bennett will look for his first win at the school in the team's next matchup at home against Barnwell.
