Airport High School became the 1st Chronicle Country team to earn a spot at the SC High School League competitive cheer finals.
The Lady Eagles placed 4th overall at the Class 4A qualifier held at Irmo High School. Eastside won the event with 274 points, followed by AC Flora (267), Catawba Ridge (257), Airport (242) and Travelers Rest (239) to round out the Top 5.
The remaining qualifiers were Lugoff-Elgin (230), Myrtle Beach (222), Hilton Head Island (205), South Pointe (197), Hartsville (195), May River (187) and North Myrtle Beach (182).
Only 12 of the 14 teams earned a place at the Class 4A final set for Dec. 19 at the Florence Civic Center. The Class 3A Upper State qualifier is set for Friday, followed the next day by the Class 5A qualifier at Dorman High School.
