Airport High School’s Army JROTC drill team brought home top honors this past weekend, finishing third overall in the nation at the National High School Drill Team Championship.
The Golden Talon drill team was among a field of 92 of the nation’s best JROTC teams from the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard military branches competing May 3-5 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
In addition to the overall third place finish, the team placed in several individual events, among them:
• 2nd Place: Commander’s Trophy
• 2nd Place: Platoon Inspection w/Arms
• 4th Place: Platoon Regulations w/Arms
• 4th Place: Color Guard
• 4th Place: Squad Exhibition w/Arms
• 4th Place: Platoon Exhibition w/Arms CSM Harry Ferguson is the Airport drill team’s coach and adviser.
