Airport High School responds to fourth threat this month

Posted

A Lexington County school was placed on hold Feb. 17  as a safety precaution after receiving a threat.

Around 10:40 a.m., Airport High School received an email threat, and the school entered a hold while Cayce law enforcement worked on the campus, according to a press release from Lexington County School District 2.

Outer doors are locked during a hold, but classes continue as normal inside. The school was cleared around 11:30 a.m. and resumed regular operation

The district and school administrators are continuing to work with law enforcement to investigate the threats causing disruption to the school, according to the release, a spokersperson told the Chronicle.

“We want to thank our law enforcement partners once again for their quick response to this incident,” the release states, “and for their work to keep our schools and communities safe.”

This is the fourth threat the school has received this month, with previous threats taking place Feb. 2, 3, and 7.

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
