Annual Lake Murray Polar Plunge event supported Special Olympics South Carolina

Posted

The Annual Lake Murray Polar Plunge was held at the Dominion Energy Lake Murray Public Park. Hundreds of attendees attended the very cold event held on Valentine’s Day.

The 2026 Lake Murray Polar Plunge benefits the Special Olympics South Carolina. This event, run by Law Enforcement Torch Run officers, is a huge fundraising effort that is critical in aiding our athletes. Proceeds raised go to help provide year-round sports training and competition for our athletes. Contributions and involvement in this great event help our athletes achieve their goals, live healthier lives and have a sense of inclusion in the community.

The Polar Plunge South Carolina is an initiative for fundraising and participating in area events that benefit Special Olympics South Carolina.

The Lake Murray Polar Plunge aims to create “more opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities to experience the life-changing benefits of participating in Special Olympics — all at no cost to themselves or their families,” according to the event website.

Special Olympics South Carolina appreciates the continued support that these officers show, as well as the many individuals who participated in the “Freezin’ for a Reason” event.
